Why You Need to Encourage Some of Your Team to “Give it Away”

In a recent post I spoke about the how a family member in hospital at the mement has been subjected to hospital staff speaking negatively about their employer and the damage this negativity is doing to the brand of the hospital.

I am sad to report the theme continues.

In the most recent episode an older grumpy nurse (lets call her Jane), after being told she was being rude and abrupt in the delivery of her nursing tasks, decided to make excuses for her grumpy attitude.

She shared her long term back issues (as the reason why she was not able to assist in a patient transfer), and how she wished she could retire, but due to her financial situation, had to keep working.

Whinge, Whinge , Whinge

Well, sorry for my lack of empathy Jane, but for the happiness of your patients, and the brand of your employer – GIVE IT AWAY.

YOU decided to keep working.

YOU chose a caring and nurturing profession.

STOP complaining to the patients you are being paid to look after.

If you are not going to deliver a caring and nurturing service in your role – then find another job.

What has this got to do with you as a health business owner?

You have to ask yourself if any of your current team members are having the same negative and whinging conversations with the patients in your practice?

Are any of your team members complaining about having to keep working in your business?

Do they share their negative attitudes and problems with the clients in your practice?

If so, you need to do something about it.

When clients are in your practice, the sessions and experiences should be all about them, the patient.

Remember, everything speaks in your business, so you need to do all you can to ensure your clients have a positive experience every time they visit your practice.

So if you have any “Janes” working for you, then it may be time for you to encourage them to “Give it Away“.
